Description
Introduction to ISO 26000 Lead Implementer
This standard offers guidance on socially responsible behavior and possible actions; it does not contain requirements and, therefore, unlike ISO management system standards, is not certifiable. ISO 26000 clearly states:
“This International Standard is not a management system standard. It is not intended or appropriate for certification purposes or regulatory or contractual use. Any offer to certify, or claims to be certified, to ISO 26000 would be a misrepresentation of the intent and purpose and a misuse of this International Standard.”
Despite being non-certifiable, ISO 26000 provides practical guidance for organizations to integrate social responsibility into their management routines. The standard encourages organizations to engage with stakeholders, reconsider socially responsible behavior, select applicable recommendations, and report on actions taken.
Although ISO 26000 does not allow formal certification of organizations, it is possible to implement its guidance and audit against it. The PECB ISO 26000 Lead Implementer certification demonstrates a candidate’s knowledge and skills in applying the standard effectively.
